Happy World Poetry Day, everyone!

I encourage you to explore poetry and to enjoy the creativity of poets! Anyone can write poetry. If you notice things and have thoughts, you can write poetry. It isn't about writing in a particular way. To encourage you, here's my poem "A Poem Doesn't Have to Rhyme:"

A poem doesn't have to rhyme

You don't serve the poem

The poem serves you

Whatever you want to say--

Your thoughts

Your feelings

Your quirky view of life

Your outrage

Your sadness

Your hopes--

Say it your way

In whatever words you choose

It's your poem

It's YOUR poem

A poem doesn't have to rhyme

It just has to speak.
